When compared to Fleetwood Mac, singer-guitarist Alana Haim says, ‘Let’s start a little smaller.’
Haim have admitted to feeling “squeamish” about being compared to the likes of Fleetwood Mac.
The classic rock group have often been mentioned in reviews of the three-piece’s music since the release of their debut single “Falling” in 2012.
Asked about the comparisons they draw, Danielle Haim told Marie Claire: “If I read ‘Check out this band; they sound like both Fleetwood Mac and Beyonce’, I’d be like, ‘What?!’
“I get squeamish when people say that. Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands out there! Let’s start a little smaller, you know?”
Asked about sporting designer wear, Alana Haim added: “Every girl grows up reading the [fashion] magazines and wanting to wear these clothes.
“Never in our wildest dreams would we think that we could own Givenchy.
It’s very surreal to have designers saying, ‘We really love what you’re doing and want to support you’.”
Of being in a group with her siblings, Este Haim said: “Playing with my sisters has never felt like a job.
“We love to travel and wanted to be able to do it together, and we were like, ‘What’s the most frugal way we could do that – oh, yeah, we’ll just have a band!’ We’ll basically sing for our supper.”
The full interview appears in the April edition of Marie Claire, available from March 25.
