Rhino will be releasing Fleetwood Mac – Rumours Live on Friday, September 8. The set, to be released in CD and vinyl formats, captures Fleetwood Mac‘s performance at the Fabulous Forum (now Kia Forum) in Inglewood, California on August 29, 1977 during the band’s Rumours Tour.
With exception to the blues-era “Oh Well (Pt. 1),” Fleetwood Mac performed almost every track from their 10th and 11th studio albums Fleetwood Mac (1975) and Rumours (1977) during this tour, a decision that the band later regretted. “You can’t make people listen to a bunch of new material no matter how good it is,” Stevie Nicks explained back in 2010 referring to the Rumours Tour. “We almost got booed off the stage.”
Some jeering might have been expected then from fans more familiar with Fleetwood Mac being led by the likes of Peter Green and Bob Welch. But every track on the enduring Rumours, including the bumped “Silver Springs,” is arguably regarded as flawless today, so hearing the entire album in concert now would undoubtedly be celebrated.
