Stevie has publicly said that Mick Fleetwood, Sara Fleetwood, Christine McVie (dec’d) , Lori Nicks, Robin Snyder Anderson (dec’d), Waddy Wachtel are all her best friends, but Stevie has many close friends.

No. Stevie does not have biological children. In 1990, Stevie considered adopting a child (a girl) but changed her mind after realizing that the demands of her life and career would not be compatible with raising a child. She would have called the child “Lillian Rebecca” (Castro, 1990).

But Stevie admires motherhood. “I have a newfound respect for moms,” she told Marilyn Beck in 1997. “When I’m at my (former) house in Phoenix, I live with my 5 1/2-year-old niece (Jessi) and my brother (Christopher) and sister-in-law (Lori). And I now really understand what an incredible commitment it is to have a child, and how difficult it is. I know I could not have done both. I’d have ended up having to stop doing my music, or pretty much letting someone else raise my child — which would have made me very unhappy. And I don’t want to bring children into a world of crazy rock ‘n’ roll. I mean, people have asked, ‘Are you going to take your dog on tour?’ No! I don’t want her (Sulamith) to go out there and get sick and die. So to drag a kid around on the road? I don’t think that’s right” (Beck, 1997).

Because of Stevie’s caring nature, however, many of her close friends have entrusted her to be Godmother to their children. She considers Matthew Anderson, the son of her ex-husband Kim Anderson and the late Robin Snyder Anderson, to be her stepson.

Stevie’s parents were Jess Seth Nicks and Barbara Meeks Nicks. Jess, 80 (d. August 10, 2005), and Barbara, 84 (d. December 28, 2012).

Stevie has one younger brother, Christopher Aaron (b. December 18, 1953), who married Stevie’s backup singer Lori Nicks (b. September 14, 1951). They have one child, Jessica James Nicks (b. September 27, 1991), Stevie’s niece.

Stevie’s godson was Glen Berlin Parrish, Jr., 18 (October 10, 1993 – November 5, 2011), the son of Stevie’s good friend and former manager Glen Parrish, Sr. The younger Parrish died at a UCLA fraternity party, allegedly from alcohol and prescription-medication toxicity. The incident inspired Stevie to write the song “You Can Fix This” (from the Sound City Real to Reel soundtrack).
