Stevie Nicks reflects on Uvalde victims, vows to keep story alive

On Wednesday, Stevie Nicks reflected on the one-year anniverary of the Robb Elementary School mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas. She shared a story about living in El Paso as a child and aspiring to be a “prima ballerina.” She described the creative path that eventually led to becoming the great singer-songwriter that she is today, but only because “[she] got to grow up and be Stevie Nicks.”

“I can’t help but ask myself, what if I had been shot and killed by a gun while in my ballet class in the third grade? And I can’t help but think of all those little lost futures,” she lamented.

In closing, she vowed, “I will do all I can to keep this story alive.”

Stevie Nicks shares ‘Get It Back,’ urges all to vote in midterm elections

Stevie Nicks has shared the lyrics to “Get It Back,” a song that she’s been working on while out on the road. She then urged people to register to vote in the midterm elections, saying “I’m worried for everyone of you,” referring to the state of current politics. “You are the masters of your own ships.”

Stevie has been on vocal rest since last week due to a non-COVID respiratory illness, but she’s certainly keeping herself busy, working on new music and speaking her mind, as usual. Keep it comin’!

  • ‘I am just so sad….’

Stevie Nicks shared the following comments about the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas:

My hope for this country is that the lawmakers just find a way to make buying an assault rifle ~ more difficult. There is just no reason to have a gun that would disintegrate a deer~ or a small animal, if you are, indeed, an honorable hunter. When those guns go into the hands of obviously disturbed people, it gives them a sense of unbelievable power that they have never felt before. Power, used in a bad way, is the opposite of “power” used in a good way. Once people have felt the power of those guns, they are never the same. They are addicted. And then there is no turning back. So don’t give them that power. Make it really hard for them to get that gun.
No one is trying to take away guns from people who get them for a good reason. Guns are not toys. Background checks are not that hard.

In closing, I am dying inside for the loss of those children in Texas and their parents. Five of my most happy years were spent in El Paso, Texas. I loved it there. So, I ask you; do you want to go down in the history books as being responsible for these school shootings that will inevitably continue, or do you want to be remembered as the people who finally gathered together in unity and empathy ~ as the people who stopped it.

My fathers favorite saying to me was “Sometimes the hardest thing to do is the right thing to do~ and sometimes the right thing to do ~ is the hardest thing to do.”
And then he would say~ Be brave, Stevie, always. Do the right thing. Never compromise your beliefs.
    Never give up.

    I love you~
    Daddy

    P.S.
If I had gone to school one day when I was ten~ and been shot; my little body destroyed, I think my father would have done the same thing that that lovely teacher’s husband did. Gone home, sat down in a chair~ and died… of a broken heart.
    I am just so sad….

  • ‘This is a real American Horror Story, getting worse every day’

‘This is a real American Horror Story, getting worse every day’

In a powerful journal entry, Stevie Nicks begs everyone to fight COVID-19 by wearing face masks.

On Tuesday, Stevie Nicks pleaded for everyone to wear face masks to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 infections. Stevie shared her most personal journal entry to date, describing the spike in cases as “a real American Horror Story.” “If I get it,” she wrote, “I will probably never sing again. Put me on a ventilator and I will be hoarse for the rest of my life. I don’t have much time. I am 72 years old.”

Stevie has endured asthma for most of her life, forcing her to cancel performances in the past. Last year, she battled influenza and pneumonia, resulting in her hospitalization and Fleetwood Mac subsequently postponing shows. She fully recovered, but her warnings are unsurprising given these underlining respiratory conditions.

So the message is clear… Help Keep Stevie Safe!

    Journal Entry

    We still have our freedom~
But we don’t have much time~

On July 29th, 2020 when I posted my journal entry about wearing masks, there were 141,430 deaths from COVID 19 in the United States.

Today, August 10th, 2020 there are 163,465 deaths from COVID 19 in the United States.

    22,035 people have died in 13 days….

A lot of people still aren’t taking the wearing of a simple mask seriously~ or, just trying to be aware of how close you are to others. The masks and the distancing have now become a political statement. It is not political. It is a silent killer hiding in the shadows. It is stalking you. It doesn’t care who you are…It’s just looking for a victim.

And you don’t have much time…

Are you aware, everyone, that if you survive this virus~ you will be fighting the after effects for the rest of your life. Micro-blood clots~ in all your organs; in your brain~ neurological problems ; a cough that rips your throat apart and keeps coming back.

If I get it, I will probably never sing again. Put me on a ventilator and I will be hoarse for the rest of my life~ I don’t have much time… I am 72 years old….

Everyone gathering at the beaches ~ in the bars~ block parties ~ etcetera ~ Let’s get drunk and make out and by the way “Can I have the other half of your drink?”~ We are heading for a crash; People are dying because people aren’t wearing their masks.

This is like the season of American Horror Story I was in. It had turned into an apocalypse above ground. A serious “shelter in place.” And unless you were a famous witch or a wealthy warlock or just a very rich person you did not get into one of the underground bunkers~ But if you did get in, you arrived in a beautifully tattered black Victorian carriage drawn by two noble, monstrous but dying ~ black horses. It was just a great story, but I felt the gravity of it even then… You did not want to leave that safe house because only death awaited you above ground. When those characters ventured out for just a moment~ They wore their hazmat suits and black gas masks~ no questions asked. I found it terrifying. It was the end of the world ~
What’s going on in our country now, is a real “American Horror Story.” Nobody is leading us. Nobody has a plan. Unless people change their attitude from – “Oh this is such a bummer to stay in and wear a mask and follow the rules, and not party” ~ We will never get ahead of this virus.

This virus can kill you. It can kill me. Kill my chances of pulling on those boots and hitting the road~ Kill the chances that any of us in the music community will ever get back to the stage, because we would never put you in danger~ never take you and your life for granted. Never put your family members who are older and more fragile in danger. You should feel the same. You take deadly chances because you think you’re immortal. You’re not. If you get this virus, your life will be forever changed. Your beauty will be stolen from you. You will age as you fight for your life. You will age as you fight your way back…if you survive.

163,465 people have died… It’s getting worse every day

    Call it Armageddon
    Call it a Pandemic
    Call it the Apocalypse…

This is a real American Horror Story~

    It is not a mini-series ~

    It is a tragedy~

Stevie urges ‘spiritual warriors’ to fight virus by wearing masks

Stevie Nicks has shared a journal entry from July 17, 2020. In the entry, she asks her fans to “change into spiritual warriors” and “make it our mission to fight this virus” by wearing a mask as much as possible. Stevie’s comments echo the CDC’s recommendation for Americans to wear masks to prevent COVID-19 spread.

Here’s the text of Stevie’s journal entry:

    July 17, 2020
    Journal Entry

It is 6:50am~ I am still awake listening to Pandora~ My stomach ache is gone, and I am just happy to be awake, immersed in music~ feeling slightly euphoric and inspired to be alive and still be able to feel young and safe here in – “My House, it’s a very, very, very fine house.” Right here in this moment, I feel hope. I feel happy. I feel safe. Tomorrow when I wake in the afternoon, the news will negate all this goodness until tomorrow night, late when I come back to this place where everything is possible.

If everyone could just wear a mask and stay in as much as possible~ you might be able to find this magical place I have found, in the early morning when everyone sleeps~

And when you wake up, make it your mission to do all that you can to stop the virus before someone you know falls really ill. Because then, you will be too late. Your life will be forever changed.

In order for us all to get back to our former lives – we must all change into spiritual warriors- we must make it our mission to fight this virus; otherwise there is nothing left~ If we don’t get ahead of this now – we will live with such guilt and regret that it will destroy us. You can’t go back. You can’t push rewind. I want to go back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on those high black suede platform boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget the world and sing with me.

Please don’t throw this world away. Please don’t give up on humanity and let this virus win this war. It’s up to us now ~ because nobody is helping us. Nobody is coming to our rescue.
    No one ~

    I may have my freedom~
    But I don’t have a lot of time…

Stevie Nicks is not letting eye exam get in the way of wearing mask

Stevie Nicks checked in on her fans Friday afternoon, sharing a cheeky photo of herself getting an eye exam. “Not letting a measly eye exam get in the way of wearing my mask… Stay safe everyone,” Stevie wrote in the caption.

Stevie has been properly wearing her mask in public and staying safe with friends and family in Los Angeles. She’s occasionally shared photos on her social media pages since March, including one of the newest addition to the Nicks family, the adorable Lily.

Stevie was scheduled to headline the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival this October, but organizers postponed it to May 28-30, 2021 due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in California.

  • Stevie reflects on ‘proudest moments’ visiting hospitals

Stevie reflects on ‘proudest moments’ visiting hospitals

Stevie shared a special message with her friends and fans on social media, paying tribute to veterans on Memorial Day. She reflected on her special visits to Walter Reed Hospital and Bethesda Hospital (now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland), calling them “the proudest moments of [her] life.” Accompanying her message was a video of her and Mick Fleetwood laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

    Stevie’s message:

To All my Friends and Fans~

I would like to share this video with you because it makes me remember that the 4 years I spent visiting Walter Reed Hospital and Bethesda Hospital were the proudest moments of my life. I never spent less than 11 hours when I was at Walter Reed and never less than 7 hours at Bethesda. I went 19 times. This was enough time for me to feel like I was a soldier in the Army and Navy. Laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was the most emotionally difficult and the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. I also toured Arlington Cemetery ~ walked through it~ and saw many funeral processions ride by me with the horses in the lead~ I’ll never forget it.

This is not the time for me to talk about the pandemic or the President’s lack of empathy. It is my time to celebrate being a soldier; to celebrate all soldiers and what they give up the day they enlist. I hope you spend your Memorial Day being safe and~ as the golden rule says~ “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

From the bottom of my heart, I pray for this country~ and that we will survive this, and that life will return to at least some kind of normalcy~ but for today, just be a soldier’s angel. It is their day.

    Love,
    Stevie Nicks

    P.S.
I am printing the words to Soldier’s Angel~ the poem song I wrote while visiting the hospital.

    P.S.S.
Also, thank you Mick for holding me up at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
