Stevie Nicks Trouble in Shangri-La (2001)

Every Day

“Every Day” is Track 5 on Trouble in Shangri-La and the album’s lead single. It follows “Planets of the Universe” and precedes “Too Far from Texas” in the track order.

About the Song

Producer John Shanks sent Stevie Nicks an envelope labeled “Every Day.” Inside was the demo for “Every Day,” a song which Shanks and songwriter Damon Johnson had written for Stevie to record. When Stevie walked past her office desk and saw the envelope, the title reminded her of Buddy Holly’s hit 1957 “Everyday.” From that connection, Stevie decided to record the song.

Lyrics

Don’t keep me hangin’ on a string
Tell me what I feel is no big thing
Don’t turn away I’m listening
Over and over again

Don’t give me visions to explain
There are no doubts
I feel the strain
Of all my senses yearning
Over and over again

Every day I see you
Every day I need you
Every way I breathe you
On and on and on and on again

Again

It’s not important to wonder why
What is just is
No more to imply
This simple thought repeating
Over and over again

Every day I see you
Every day I need you
Every way I breathe you
On and on and on and on again

Imagine all the ways to cope
I close my eyes
That gives me hope
It cures the silence

Every day I see you (see you)
Every day I need you (need you)
Every way I breathe you (I breathe you)
On and on and on and on

Every day I see you (see you)
Every day I need you (need you)
Every way I breathe you (I breathe you)
On and on and on and on
On and on and on and on again
Again
