    LISTEN: Tusk by Temporary Hero

Temporary HeroCovers are always hit or miss, especially when it comes to the acclaimed classic rock band Fleetwood Mac. Even when another rock band takes on the songs, it’s usually a risky move, so what happens when an electronic artist takes on TUSK? Well, Portland musician Jonah Bell, aka Temporary Hero is preparing to release his 10-track album of re-imagined TUSK songs later this month, but we have the stream just below!

With a release date set for March 25, 2016, this ambitious album is sure to be polarizing, but this stream that we’ve provided below is something we’re definitely excited to share with you.

As you may know, TUSK was, in itself, a controversial album for Fleetwood Mac, in that it resulted in the loss of listeners and a drop in concert attendance. Nowadays, it’s considered a classic, but it definitely took some time for fans to fall in love with it. Knowing this, taking on an electronic cover album of it seems like a wild idea, right?

While the compositions sound much different than the original album, TUSK is not absent in the electronic covers. Temporary Hero is paying homage to one of his favorite records, and that is apparent in the finished product.

This isn’t the first time Temporary Hero has released a re-imagined cover album of one of his favorite musical acts. He did the same kind of tribute to Chet Baker and his songs. You’d like to hear those too? Yeah, we thought so. Here’s his version of “My Funny Valentine” for your listening pleasure!

Follow Temporary Hero on Facebook and Twitter for more information!

    Description

A re-imagining of one of America’s most iconic albums by one of the world’s most influential and enduring acts, Fleetwood Mac. Here, Temporary Hero covers 10 of the polarizing album’s classic songs in an eclectic variety of styles.

Highlights include the balearic kissed and cello-laden Think About Me, and That’s All For Everyone, a “downtempo/ambient glitch meets country by way of dobro” masterpiece.

  • Fan’s dream comes true

    Fan’s dream comes true

“She was just a wish / She was just…a wish”

For one fan, the lyrics from the classic Stevie Nicks-penned song “Gypsy” couldn’t haven’t been more meaningful and appropriate than it was when she met her idol after Fleetwood Mac’s June 16 concert in Glasgow, Scotland.

UK fan Robyn Sneddon literally had her wish of meeting Stevie Nicks granted by Rays of Sunshine, a UK registered charity that grants wishes to children, aged 3 to 18 years old, living with serious or life-limiting illnesses. “I couldn’t believe just how close I actually was to her — my heart was absolutely pounding!” Robyn wrote on her blog about being in the same room as Stevie (a feeling that all fans who have met Stevie in person would attest to!).

  • REVIEW: Lullaby Renditions of Fleetwood Mac

REVIEW: Lullaby Renditions of Fleetwood Mac

    RATING: * * * * (4 stars out of 5)

Get ready to rock…gently to Fleetwood Mac! On Tuesday, Feburary 10, the music of Fleetwood Mac receives a baby-friendly transformation from the award-winning lullaby series Rockabye Baby with the release of Lullaby Renditions of Fleetwood Mac.

Unsurprisingly, Christine McVie’s songs work the best. The eternal optimist’s bright pop melodies naturally lend themselves to this genre. After hearing their impressive transformations, it’s hard to imagine her hit Fleetwood Mac singles “Say You Love Me,” “Don’t Stop,” Everywhere,” and “Little Lies” could have been anything else but these adorable lullabies.

Similarly, the whimsical quality of Lindsey Buckingham’s acoustic classic “Never Going Back Again” and Stevie Nicks’s majestic “Gypsy” shine through as carefree jaunts to dreamland…or the Enchanted Forest!

Rounding out the collections are the less lullaby-like, more meditative “The Chain,” “Dreams,” and “Gold Dust Woman,” which are clearly for the grown-ups.

Be sure to check out the liner booklets for fun games (involving the song titles) and a baby food recipe called “You Make Pumpkin Fun.”

All Rockabye Baby releases are available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon and the Rockabye Baby site. To hear samples of lullabied music from The Beatles, Kanye West, Madonna, Guns N’ Roses and more, click here.

  • Alexa Chung covers ‘Blue Denim’ for new fashion collection

Alexa Chung covers ‘Blue Denim’ for new fashion collection

The multitalented It-girl takes to the stage in a new fashion film

Not only is fashion’s ultimate cool girl a TV presenter, model and author, now Alexa Chung is officially a singer, too.

It’s no secret Chung loves to sing – she even threw a karaoke party for her 31st birthday in New York last year, sharing snaps of herself behind the mic on Instagram – but we had no idea the girl actually had talent.

Starring in an exclusive video for mytheresa.com, the British It-girl performs a cover of Stevie Nicks’ 1994 hit “Blue Denim” in Valentino shoes and an indigo mini-dress from her new collaborative collection with AG (Adriano Goldschmied) (yes, she’s a designer, too).

Ignoring the unimpressed party crowd, Chung gives the Dev Hynes-produced track her all while totally uncool guests dare to suggest she’s hogging the mic with her ninth rendition of the tune. Um hello, she’s Alexa.

The fashion film, which was shot by director Gia Coppola in her own Hollywood Hills home, is part of mytheresa.com’s Tunes series, which celebrates the merge between fashion, film and music. Oh, and that dress is available January 15.

  • Stevie wears winning fan-designed shawl onstage

Stevie wears winning fan-designed shawl onstage

Stevie Nicks has been wearing a fan-designed shawl at “On With the Show” performances. So far, Stevie has donned the shawl at every show since debuting the original piece at the Columbus show on October 19. The winning shawl was designed by independent designer Celeste Meyeres for the Talenthouse “Design a Show-stopping Shawl for Stevie Nicks” contest.

Stevie had the following to say about the shawl and her experience reviewing the hundreds of shawl design submissions that Talenthouse artists provided:

“I was so moved by the amount of submissions and the amazing detail and effort that was put into all of the designs. It was such a difficult decision for me to choose just one! I’d like to give a special shout out to 9 year-old Maia Quinn. Your design was in my top 10 before I even realized you were only 9! By the time you’re 15, you’ll be a famous fashion designer living in Paris! Ultimately, I chose NAY-TIV RAY-VIN by Crickets Meyeres. I felt this garment could have been made for Rhiannon or for Gold Dust Woman~ the color really isn’t that important. It just seems like a “Celtic” or a “native American” piece~ and I found that very interesting because it is obviously the tribal element that drew me to it~ be it Welsh or Southwestern~ Congratulations!!!”

Howe’s book is set for digital release on October 13.

    Book Description

Stevie Nicks is one of the most recognisable figures in rock ‘n’ roll history – very much Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Queen Bee’, as Mick Fleetwood himself describes her. While she once made headlines with her hedonistic lifestyle, part of Nicks’ irresistible appeal is her youthful vulnerability and mystical aura, making her an artist with whom fans have an unbreakable emotional connection.
