Buckingham Nicks reissue in the works?

Lotus Mastering — a Los Angeles-based sound engineering studio whose roster of clients includes Green Day, Eric Clapton, and Madonna, among many others — tweeted the above picture of what appears to be the original analog tapes for Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham’s 1973 album Buckingham Nicks.

On Wednesday, Lotus tweeted: “Completed an analog archive of Stevie & Lindsey Buckingham Nicks (1973) for Polydor Records. Preserving and digitizing the analog master tapes. No idea if they plan to re-release.”

Although Lotus couldn’t confirm any firm reissue plans, the fact that Stevie and Lindsey are making new digital masters of their debut recording is a curious development, to say the least. The album currently remains without a record label, but rumors indicate that Stevie and Lindsey have been negotiating with Warner Bros. behind closed doors to work out a deal. With a 40th anniversary to commemorate on the heels of a soldout Fleetwood world tour, this may be the golden opportunity to finally reissue the album on CD. Will they seize the moment?
