RECAP: Fleetwood Mac performs at Dodger Stadium

The band pays tribute to veteran announcer Vin Scully at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Blue Diamond Gala

On Thursday night, Fleetwood Mac performed a special concert at the Blue Diamond Gala, honoring the legendary Vin Scully, veteran announcer for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The star-studded event was held on the field of Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, where celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey, Sylvester Stallone, John Mayer, Lea Michele, and others schmoozed with the guests.

Guests first attended the blue carpet pre-party, mingling with Los Angeles Dodgers players, coaches, and alumni. Vin Scully then addressed gala attendees on the playing field, centerfield to be specific.

During his speech, the guest-of-honor joked, “I wish I could sing with Fleetwood Mac … That would be a sight and a sound, wouldn’t it?” After cocktails and dinner, they watched Fleetwood Mac perform a special concert, the band’s only show of the year.

The five band members took to the stage at around 9:00pm and performed a slightly shortened version of the On With the Show Tour set list.

Lindsey Buckingham talked at length about the evolution of “Big Love” and later dedicated it to his wife Kristen and his three children Will, Leelee, and Stella.

Stevie Nicks dedicated “Landslide” to Scully and said “Mr. Scully, we are right behind you,” jokingly referring to both of their very long careers. “So this is for you with all our love, and just keep doing what you do. We love you for it.”

After “Go Your Own Way,” Mick Fleetwood introduced the band, but limited the mentions to just the core five members.

After “Don’t Stop”, Stevie thanked everyone for coming, saying “This has been a really special, beautiful, unique, and extremely different, amazing memory.”

All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, the official team charity of the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to the foundation’s official website, its mission is to support greater-Los -Angeles-area families in need through sports, recreation, education, and health and wellness.
