On Friday, Miley Cyrus released “Midnight Sky,” the lead single from her upcoming seventh album She Is Mylie Cyrus (RCA).
“Midnight Sky” bears some resemblance to Stevie Nicks‘ 1981 rock anthem “Edge of Seventeen,” as this well-crafted mixup of the two songs, cleverly dubbed “Edge of Midnight,” demonstrates.
Miley has long been a fan of Stevie’s. In 2018, she performed “Landslide” at Fleetwood Mac’s MusiCares’ Person of the Year bash, to which Stevie gave her seal of approval, calling the performance “fantastic.” Miley’s also covered the perennial classic at her own shows.
