Tour wraps up at Phoenix homecoming show

Stevie Nicks postponement
Ak-Chin Pavilion announcing the earlier October 6th postponement of the Phoenix show via social media.

On November 5, 2022, Stevie Nicks performed at Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix, Arizona, the last show of Fall 2022 tour. Stevie was originally scheduled to perform this show on October 6, but had to postpone it due to non-COVID respiratory illness, as reported by concert promoters.

But Stevie was back and in great form as fans cheered her homecoming. As most fans know by now, Stevie was born in Phoenix and had lived in the Maricopa County area before settling in Los Angeles. For many years, the Arizona desert landscape served as the visual inspiration for many of Stevie’s beloved songs, such as “Edge of Seventeen” and “Gold Dust Woman.” Stevie told many stories throughout the night, even referencing some local-area details about “Gold Dust Woman” and her childhood living in Phoenix. Stevie admitted that if she dedicated “Landslide” to everyone she knew in Arizona that the show would be long over before she was done with the long list of names. So she limited her dedication to Aaron Carter, who passed away that morning, and all of her Phoenix fans, “where it all started.”

Vanessa Carlton was the support act.

Stevie will now take a few months off to rest and enjoy the holidays, but will get back on the road again next year when she co-headlines “Two Icons One Night” shows with Billy Joel! So until then, have a look back on the recent 2022 Tour!

“Thank you. That song was written one night when I was driving across Gold Dust Lane. I went, ‘I’m writing a song about it.’ I don’t know what, where the lady that’s in that song came from Gold Dust Lane, but she did.

“So this next song is my dedication song and I have to just say I have way, way, too…such a list of people that I would like to just dedicate this song to that I just really can’t do it because you guys would be all way the home in bed and asleep by the time we finished this list. So one thing I would like to say, which is important, is I would like to send out a part of this dedication to the Backstreet Boys because I know them well and I’m a big fan of theirs and I’m very sorry that their little brother passed away this morning. And the only thing I have to say about that is that sometimes the next generation of children, when like you are like this big huge fan, whether it’s Backstreet Boys or whether it’s the Bee Gees or whoever, you know, there’s this big, huge…it’s like catching up with a hurricane and that makes me very sad because it’s just you just can’t, can’t compete with it, and I’m very sorry this has happened to them because it’s an awful, terrible loss.

“So, that being said, I would just like you all to know that I dedicate this whole show, this whole everything I do in fact for the last like forty years pretty much, I dedicate it to you because it all started here. And the dream happened here when I was a little child. And they believed in me, and they believed when I said I’m gonna be a big rock star, they said like, okay! They so believed it. So I would also like to say thanks Mom and Dad for bringing me to Phoenix and having me be born here in Phoenix.

“So, anyway, this is really a little song that I wrote in 1973. Thought it was kind of good but never had any idea the places it would take us all to. So this is for you. It’s called ‘Landslide.'”
