Tick Tock… the Countdown Begins; Stevie Nicks 24 Karat Gold – Songs From The Vault Oct. 7th Release

Pre-Orders Beginning Today, August 5th on iTunes, Amazon and DTC STEVIENICKSOFFICIAL.com Launches August 5th

BURBANK, CA–(Marketwired – Aug 5, 2014) – Today marks the first day Stevie Nicks fans can pre order 24 Karat Gold – Songs From The Vault as well as hear samples from the album and view exclusive content from the highly anticipated CD, Nicks’ first album in three years, it was confirmed today by her label, Warner Bros. Records.

Commented Nicks about the release of 24 Karat Gold: “I used to make cassettes of my songs and hand them out. But to know that these songs have finally been recorded with the same love they were originally created is joyous for me. I picked 12 songs from about 40 demos made from ’69 – ’87 and one each from 94 and 95. These songs are all about love and heartbreak — how to pick up the pieces — how to keep moving… I’m really chronicling love from the very beginning. When you write a song and it doesn’t go on a record, it floats around in your life for years. I took myself back to the time when these songs were written… Sometimes I can’t remember what happened yesterday but I remember so well what happened through the whole period of time that I wrote these songs. You think about them and go over them and they live inside of you until they becomes part of your world. These songs are now 24 Karat Gold.”

“The only way this would have been possible was because of the amazing ‘Nashvillians’ as I named the brilliant musicians we worked with in Nashville. They were a great band — tantamount to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers… We were awestruck just watching them. We had two weeks to lay down the tracks… This was going to be a fast moving train… That is how we roll and that IS how we rolled!! And we did it.”

A special version of 24 Karat Gold will be available on STEVIENICKSOFFICIAL.com which will also feature a lyric video for “The Dealer.” In addition, Stevie will be unveiling snippets from every song on her album each week through her Instagram account at “stevienicksofficial”.

Nicks, a multi-Grammy award winning, multi-platinum selling Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is scheduled to embark on the Fleetwood Mac ‘On With The Show’ Tour with recently returned bandmate Christine McVie beginning September 30th.

Stevie Nicks to Release New Album 24 Karat Gold — Songs from the Vault in October

Kristin Burns/Warner Bros.Stevie Nicks hinted earlier this year that she might release some older songs that had never seen the light of day. Now, she’s making good on that tease: her new album 24 Karat Gold — Songs from the Vault is due October 7.

According to Stevie, the album features mostly songs written between 1969 and 1987, with two that were written in 1994 and 1995. “Each song is a lifetime. Each song has a soul. Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story,” she says in a statement. “They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the broken-hearted and the survivors. These songs are the memories — the 24 karat gold rings in the blue box. These songs are for you.”

The artwork for the album includes never-before-seen Polaroid photos taken by Stevie throughout her career.

24 Karat Gold — Songs from the Vault is available for pre-order starting August 5. That same day, Stevie will debut her new, official Instagram account, StevieNicksOfficial, where she’ll begin previewing snippets of the music.

In addition, a limited edition double vinyl version of 24 Karat Gold — Songs from the Vault will come out September 29. Also available will be a Deluxe Photobook CD, which will include two bonus tracks, as well as 48 pages of exclusive photos from Stevie’s personal collection.

Stevie and Fleetwood Mac will hit the road for their On with the Show tour — featuring the return of Christine McVie — starting September 30 in Minneapolis.

HOT: Stevie Nicks preps new 24 Karat Gold album, slated for October release

It’s proving to be a very busy year for the legendary Stevie Nicks. Not only is she about to head out on tour with a reunited Fleetwood Mac, but she’s also in the midst of finishing up her own new solo album.

Tentatively titled 24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault, Nicks’ forthcoming collection includes lost and stray tracks that she’s written and recorded through the years, but never made it onto an album. The selections for 24 Karat Gold were all newly recorded, and co-produced by Nicks, Dave Stewart and Waddy Wachtel.

Nicks’ publicist, Liz Rosenberg, says that Nicks hopes to release the album in October on Reprise/Warner Bros. Records. She recently recorded the “24 Karat” tunes in Nashville, and will continue working on the album in Los Angeles.

(The album title presumably refers to Nicks’ song “24 Karat Gold,” which is widely available on YouTube as a bootleg.)

Nicks says that she just recorded “18 tracks in three weeks” for the album — saying that it’s the “fastest I have ever recorded.”

She made those comments last night during her acceptance speech at the BMI Pop Awards in Los Angeles, where she was honored with the BMI Icon award for her songwriting achievements. Nicks has written or co-written many of her solo hit singles, including “Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)” and “Stand Back.” As part of the band Fleetwood Mac, Nicks wrote or co-wrote such favorites as “Landslide,” “Rhiannon” and the No. 1 the Billboard Hot 100 hit “Dreams.”

“We went onto YouTube and we found all the songs that, somehow, were taken from my house or picked up or loaned out or whatever … and we went to Nashville (and recorded them),” Nicks told the Associated Press. “So they’re like all starting from like 1969 maybe? I call them my 24 karat gold songs.”

There’s no word on if 24 Karat Gold will feature any special guests, however, with Nicks having been in a collaborative mood lately, one never knows who might turn up on the set. Recently, Nicks performed with Lady Antebellum on the Academy of Country Music Awards (April 6) and on CMT Crossroads (Sept. 13, 2013), as well as with Dave Grohl on the Sound City soundtrack (2013).

24 Karat Gold follows Nicks’ last studio effort, 2011’s In Your Dreams, which was also co-produced by Stewart. It debuted and peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart and has sold 199,000 in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Fleetwood Mac, meanwhile, is also working on new music and will kick off a concert tour starting Sept. 30 in Minneapolis. It will be the band’s first trek with singer/songwriter Christine McVie since The Dance Tour in 1997.
