On Monday’s episode of The Voice, super talents Cara Brindisi and Jay Allen performed Stevie Nicks and Don Henley‘s classic duet “Leather and Lace” during The Voice Battles. Both singers shined, and frankly, they could form a country band of their own! But what did the coaches think?
John liked Cara’s whispering and belting, but preferred the power and raspiness of Jay’s voice. Blake thought Cara’s voice was hypnotic, but felt Jay captured the “Stevie Nicks approach to his vocal” (maybe Jay’s raspy growl again), so he chose Jay too. Camila liked the gentle and delicate quality of Cara’s voice, but felt more emotionally from Jay. It was starting to look like a clean sweep for Jay. But Gwen struggled with the final decision, admitting that Cara and Jay are her two favorites on Team Gwen. In the end, Gwen went against the other three coaches and chose Cara for her effortless delivery.
But before we even had a chance to shed our tears for Jay’s pending exit, Gwen used her SAVE on him and then, seconds later, Blake unleashed his STEAL. Drama in the love nest! So which way did Jay go? As an aspiring country artist, he naturally went with Blake, saying to him “You are country music.”
Good battle!
