Stevie Nicks performed at the USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, on Thursday, June 16, 2022.
Stevie told the crowd that she went to high school in the Salt Lake City area for the 8th, 9th, and part of the 10th grade before relocating to California with her family.

Stevie Nicks performed at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California on Sunday night. Stevie famously started her music career in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1960s, growing up and attending school along the Peninsula. Not to mention visiting “The Velvet Underground,” the clothing store of the stars, back in the day.
Like at the Gorge show, Stevie had a lot of friends and family in the audience but was somewhat prohibited from seeing them in person due to COVID safety precautions. She explained that Team Stevie had to remain “in a bubble,” so tried her best to acknowledge the presence of her lovelies during the “Landslide” dedication. She then offered, “The next time I come back I’ll just have a whole sit-down so we can really discuss the world.”

Vanessa Carlton, Stevie’s good friend and protégé, was the opening act.

“We are in a bubble, which means we are traveling in a bubble. We don’t get to see any of our good friends, which are many here. So the only way we can see them is see them all the way out there. So I have a list, because since I don’t really get to see them, they have to know that I know they’re here. So here’s my list.
“I’d like to dedicate this next song to Brad Jeffries, who you saw dancing with me in ‘If Anyone Falls in Love,’ the beautiful dancer. That made me want to maybe get the stuff to go back to ballet, but not really. Second of all, to Matthew and Amanda, mother of Robin, and father also of Robin. So Robin, this is also dedicated to you because that last song that we played [‘Gypsy’] was actually about your Grandma Robin. And number three, this is neither planned, who is more of those same people. Joanne, Emily, Andrew, Dustin, and Luke, so sorry I can’t just run out there, but we can’t.
“And there are probably so many more people that I know from here that I would like to say something to, but there just isn’t time. The next time I come back I’ll just have a whole sit-down with all of you so we can really discuss the world. So this is for you all, and it’s called ‘Landslide.’”

So much has been written about the turmoil of Fleetwood Mac and for many, a Stevie Nicks show is the closest they’ll actually get to hear a song or two from their impressive catalog. But last night at the Shoreline in Mountain View it was Stevie, and Stevie alone, who shined bright like a diamond on a stage that she considers home. “This is the house of Bill Graham. This is where we started. This is definitely my hood,” she declared at the show’s start.
One by one she played some of her biggest hits like “Stand Back”, “Edge of Seventeen”, and “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.” But also a few obligatory Fleetwood Mac classics like “Landslide” and “Dreams”. Backed by an eight-piece band of seasoned pros they all sounded powerful, emotive, but above all genuine.
Early in the set, she introduced us to this little girl named Robin, the daughter of a late friend of Stevie’s. The audience pointed her out in the audience and shortly after Stevie dedicated a song to her. She also mentioned that to this day the child calls her “Grandma Stevie.” It was an endearing moment and one that set a warm tone for the rest of the night.
Tonight was sentimental. Like when the icon sang a cover of “Free Fallin’” in honor of her friend Tom Petty who passed away a few years ago. Or when images of Prince were displayed on a backdrop that was filled the entire night with gorgeous displays of creative imagery. We also got to see some candid Polaroids of Stevie from a career that’s spanned close to 60 years now (all taken by her, she so proudly professed).
Of course, no show would be complete without some of the iconic singer’s famous trademark twirls, which she executed with style and grace. And yes, the capes. There were many including the original from Bella Donna. She told us a story of how her mom gave her grief about how much she’d spent on those. “Mom, a cape that’s worth 5,000 dollars that I’m going to wear for 60 years,” she giggled, “That’s like 10 dollars a day!”
And therein lies the appeal of Stevie Nicks. Although relatively small in stature, her voice and presence command attention, but it’s her quiet charm that puts you under her spell from the moment she steps onto that stage. It’s the magic of her shows. Not sure how she does it, maybe it’s got something to do with those mystical spins of hers.

After a weekend that was filled with sweltering heat and humidity, a crisp evening breeze blew through the air at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View as the legendary Stevie Nicks took the stage. Given that this one of only a few shows that Nicks was scheduled to be performing this entire year, the massive Bay Area crowd knew that they were in for something special. The iconic Fleetwood Mac musician let the crowd know that this felt like a homecoming affair, and that remark was met with a roar of applause. While Nicks was born in Arizona, she attended San Jose State University, met Lindsey Buckingham years earlier attending high school in Atherton, and went on to cement the Fleetwood Mac lineup that we know today. For all intents and purposes, this was home.
The show featured one opener, the endearing singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, who kicked things off with a pitch-perfect solo performance. Predictably, the loudest reaction from the crowd came when those first delicate piano notes from Carlton’s quintessential early 2000s hit, “A Thousand Miles”, reverberated throughout the crowd. While playing only six songs, Carlton’s performance was excellent, solidifying her as not only an accomplished songwriter but an impeccable choice to open a show of this stature. (Fun fact: Nicks actually officiated Carlton’s wedding back in 2013.)
Stevie Nicks took the stage around 9 PM, kicking things off with “Outside The Rain” before seamlessly flowing into Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”. The transition was impeccable, proving to be one of the best moments of the evening. Throughout the dynamic sixteen song performance, Nicks crystallized her status as one of the greats, weaving a tapestry of stories, songs, and memories together that enchanted an audience filled with several generations of fans. Songs from both her solo career and Fleetwood Mac were present, along with an encore that featured covers of Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin classics. Select stories would precede songs, but the show flowed incredibly well, wrapping up close to 11 PM.
While it should be noted that Fleetwood Mac songs got some of the biggest crowd reactions of the evening, the crowd went wild when the phaser-tinged guitar notes of “Edge of Seventeen” kicked in. Whether she’s fronting one of the biggest bands in history or out on stage doing it all on her own, Nicks is a captivating performer, and truly one of the greatest to ever do it.
“Welcome! Welcome to one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, ever. It’s the gorgeous gorge. So I’m really glad to be here and I’m really glad… You know, I’ve been home like everybody else has in baggy pants and bedroom slippers and watching miniseries and teaching my dog tricks and it’s like, it’s really different to be out here I have to tell you. So that being said, let’s just get this party started!”

Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around
“So this next song was the first song off of Bella Donna, and it was not written by me. And had this song not been given to me by a really good friend of mine, I don’t know if we’d even be standing here tonight. I think that that was the beginning — this song was the beginning of this whole solo career, so here it is, ‘Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around.’ Thank you, Tom Petty.”
“Wow, what a moon!”
Wild Heart/Bella Donna
“So we sail back to 1981 and 1983, Bella Donna and Wild Heart. Oh, those were the days! Someday, I’ll write a book, someday.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he-U0ro7mgQ
“Thank you. But I also just want to do a little wardrobe thing I want you to share with me. This is the original Bella Donna cape from 1981! It is in perfect shape, cost a lot of money. My mom got very mad, said that’s a lot of money for that. I said, ‘Well, think about when I’m like really old and we can divide it into that, and it can be like 10 bucks a month.’”
Gypsy
Landslide
“So this next song, there’s a lot of people here that I was not able, none of us here… We’re in a bubble. I’m actually Glinda, the good witch. Waddy here is, he’s the, he’s the green witch. And we’re in a bubble so we can’t really see anybody on this tour except to be up here. So I have so many friends out there that I can’t see but so I’m gonna do it, I’m just listing off dedications.
“This next song is dedicated to my cousins Sandy and Eddie because they are the kingpins of making Christmas happen every year. They are the decorators je ne sais quoi. They are the people who just make the whole thing roll. Of course, we haven’t really had that in three years, but next year maybe, hopefully, and their names are Sandy and Eddie. So, you guys, I know you’re out there, can’t really see you, but I know you’re there. I can feel it…the blob, the blob.
“And to Charles, who is an amazing doctor, who, every once in a while… We have friends, who get sick, and stuff happens and we call him. So he’s the doctor de jour, and he’s out there somewhere too so, if anything happens, just start yelling his name, ‘Charles! Charles, where are you?’”
“Anyway, this song, this little song is called ‘Landslide’”
Soldier’s Angel
At the Gorge show, Stevie was able to read the full story that she had prepared for “Soldier’s Angel.” Overwhelmed with emotion and tears by the war in Ukraine, she wasn’t able to read the full story at the Red Rocks show on May 11, three nights earlier.
“This next song is serious, and I actually wrote out something the day before yesterday before I left my bed, actually, because I wanted to tell you the story and if I knew if I just tried to tell it to you, I would talk for like an hour and that’s not what I wanted to do, so I wrote this out.
“The next song was written 14 years ago. Sadly, I always knew it would be called back into service at some point in my life. Sometimes it’s easier to say how you feel in music and in pictures. I will let the song and the video tell the rest of the story. The sunflower painting was a birthday present for me from a lady in Ukraine. Her name is Julia. This is ‘Soldier’s Angel.’“
The last image on the screen showed the words “Save Ukraine” with a QR code to Global Citizen’s #StandUpForUkraine, a humanitarian effort to help refugees from Ukraine and around the world.
“Thank you, everybody.”

Gold Dust Woman
Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream)
“So I wanted to tell you before this song started, but we’ve only been doing this show like two other times, so my brain is like on fire and I forget that I want you to know something about this song. You know, I wrote it about…this place. I wrote it about…I wrote it about where we just came from this amazing hotel that was two-and-half hours away and drove through all the amazing trees and I’m going: This is the vampire’s place! This is where Edward and Bella lived, and this is about the song that I sing every night! So that made me really nervous because I felt like, whoa, I’m right in the middle of it here now, so it’s really real. Whoooo! Whoo-ooo! So anyway, I was a little nervous. I have sung it better before but I just want you to know it’s because I just have such a feeling. I fell in love with that story. I just wanted to like move here and find Edward. I’m done and I’m his…I’m just looking for him! So whenever it gets to that part where it says, ‘she’s see him,’ it’s like I see him. So anyway, just a little story for ya.”

Stevie Nicks returned to the historical Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on Wednesday night, where she performed to an adoring, sold-out crowd. This was the second show on the unnamed summer-fall tour through the nation’s outdoor concert venues. For the first non-festival show of the tour, Stevie added two songs to the set, deep cuts “Soldier’s Angel” and “Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream).”
Tom Petty’s “Runnin’ Down a Dream” set the tone for the much-anticipated evening, as the prerecorded track played in the background seconds before Stevie took to the stage. Moments later, the enchanting Stevie Nicks appeared and kicked off her set with the “Outside the Rain/Dreams” combo.
Early in the show, Stevie performed her biggest solo hit “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” a Billboard Pop Singles No. 3 in 1981. Guitarist Waddy Wachtel served as Stevie’s regular duet partner for the live rendition.
,Next up was “Enchanted,” the tight and reliable ditty from Stevie’s second solo album The Wild Heart (1983).
Near the halfway mark, Stevie performed another combo piece, “Wild Heart” and “Bella Donna,” the title tracks from her second and first solo albums, respectively. Afterwards, Stevie showed off the famous “Bella Donna” cape. “This is the original ‘kimono,’” she said. “It’s in perfect shape. 1981.”
Next, Stevie lit up the night with “Gypsy,” her majestic Fleetwood Mac hit single from Mirage (1982).
A Stevie Nicks show wouldn’t be complete without the unforgettable “Landslide.” Hardly a dry eye in the entire amphitheatre at this point, no doubt!
Another emotional moment came just before Stevie began “Soldier’s Angel,” a track from In Your Dreams (2011). Reading words that she prepared earlier that day, Stevie introduced the personal song, which has proven to be relevant in today’s unsettling world affairs. “This next song was written 14 years ago. Sadly, I knew it would be called back into service at some point in my life. Sometimes it’s easier to say how you feel in music and in pictures. I let the song and the video tell the rest of the story. The sunflower painting, as it was a present from a lady in Ukraine, her name’s Julia… (starts to cry) This is ‘Soldier’s Angel.” Overcome with tears, Stevie appeared to cut the introduction short so that she could proceed with singing the song.
The large monitor showed images of the sunflower painting that Stevie had been gifted, along with scenes of Ukrainian cities in ruins after the Russian invasion.
The pulsating “Stand Back” got the crowd on its feet, as Stevie twirled and kicked in her famous gold-circle cape.
The “Gold Dust Woman” emerged for a performance of what Stevie has described as “the crackhead dance” during the instrumental break.
Stevie explained that it wasn’t often that a movie could inspire her to write a song. But New Moon, the second film in the Twilight trilogy, did just that, as it motivated her to compose the atmospheric “Moonlight (A Vampire’s Dream) back in 2010. She joked that she had lived as a vampire over the last two years, alluding to the pandemic lockdown.
Stevie ended the regular set with the epic “Edge of Seventeen.” While she performs a shorter version of the rock anthem these days to help maintain her voice, it’s still a compelling showstopper in its abbreviated form.
The Red Rocks attendees continued to light up the night with their smartphones illuminating the entire venue just before Stevie returned to the stage for the encores.
For the first of three encores, Stevie honored her muse, the late Tom Petty, performing his 1989 “Free Fallin.’” In 1996, Stevie covered the track, with it later appearing on the release Music from Party of Five. As Stevie sang the distinctive bars of “I’m freeee!” photographic memories of her performing with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers displayed on the large monitor at the back of the stage.
For the second encore, “Rhiannon,” the fine sky lark, took to the sky like a bird in flight once again.
Stevie ended the night with the Led Zeppelin classic “Rock and Roll,” an homage to another one of Stevie’s musical heroes.
