Stevie Nicks launches 2025 tour in Portland after recovering from fall

Stevie Nicks launched her 2025 tour on Wednesday night at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. The tour’s original start date of August 8th in Brooklyn, New York (at Barclays Center), was delayed by two months due to a serious fall that required several weeks for healing and recovery.

Following a new set opener (a cover of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away”), Stevie explained to the crowd that two months ago she had slipped on a rug in a “rehearsal hotel in Pennsylvania” and “flew through the air like an airplane,” falling hard on her right side and breaking bones. Her medical team used the term FOOSH (Fall On Out-Stretched Hand) to describe the injury, where the fall impacts the wrist, hand, elbow, or shoulder. Despite a long recovery and still experiencing pain in her arm, Stevie said she was happy to be performing again.

Stevie delivered familiar solo hits and Fleetwood Mac favorites, like “If Anyone Falls,” “Dreams,” and “Gypsy.” Then, Stevie affirmed her massively successful solo artist career with the solo trifecta of “Wild Heart,” “Bella Donna” and “Stand Back.”

Stevie debuted “The Lighthouse,” the 2024 anthem for women written in light of the overturning of the Roe v. Wade landmark decision.

Curiously missing from the set was any material from Buckingham Nicks, which had just made its long-overdue return to vinyl and first appearance on CD and streaming digital on September 19. While Stevie performed “Crying in the Night,” the first track on Buckingham Nicks, onstage back in 2017, It was nowhere to be found in the current set.

But the biggest surprise of the night was the set return of “Angel” from Fleetwood Mac’s 1979 album Tusk. It was the first time that Stevie had performed it live in concert since The Wild Heart Tour in 1983.

Portuguese-Canadian pop and R&B singer-songwriter Sofia Camara (“Never Be Yours,” “Girls Like You”) was the opening act.
