Stevie Nicks has marked the 9/11 anniversary with a poem reflecting on that fateful day 22 years ago. Stevie had been in the process of traveling by plane from Toronto to New York when the terrorists attacked occurred on the morning of 9/11/2001. Two New York shows (for the Trouble in Shangri-La Tour) were scheduled but inevitably canceled as a result. At the urging of her parents, Stevie continued the tour in Atlantic City, NJ a few days later on September 15. “Don’t you dare come home. Your music is how you can help,” they told her.
Stevie ended her post by honoring the first responders, victims, and survivors of 9/11. “I always, every year, want to honor the brave men and women who responded that awful day~the ones who survived and the ones who did not. And I want to honor their children who honor them by following in their footsteps ~ you are always welcome at my shows~”
On Tuesday, Stevie Nicks shared her enthusiasm for Daisy Jones & the Six, the musical drama inspired by the performances of Fleetwood Mac. The series is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s book of the same name.
“Just finished watching Daisy Jones + the 6 for the 2nd time. In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but Riley seamlessly, soon became my story.
“It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story.
“It was very emotional for me. I just wish Christine could have seen it. She would have loved it.

Stevie Nicks resumed her 2023 solo tour on Friday night, performing at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. COVID had temporarily sidelined the tour when an unnamed band member fell ill in March, forcing several shows to be canceled or postponed. Stevie last performed at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 18, 2023.
After opening with “Outside the Rain” and “Dreams,” Stevie welcomed the Raleigh crowd and revealed that she was “in bed for four weeks and I’m so happy to be up!” Healthy and well-rested, Stevie delivered a crowd-pleasing show, performing 18 songs from her vast Fleetwood Mac and solo catalog. She also covered Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” and Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’”.
The solo tour moves on to Tennessee, where Stevie will perform at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville on Tuesday night.
Special thanks to Liz Baker, @BRStevieNicks, Alex Palero, SandyMac, and Sunday Girl for pictures, videos and recaps from the show.
Set List
1. Outside the Rain
2. Dreams
3. If Anyone Falls
“Welcome, Raleigh! Well, this is the first I’ve been onstage in a while. We managed to do three shows about two and half months ago, and then we ran into a little trouble and then we stopped, and then I was in bed for four weeks and now I’m up again, and I’m so happy to be here, and be up!
“So I wanna…I never make a dedication this close to the beginning, but I have to do it tonight because, okay, this is such a great story. In like, I don’t know, somewhere in beginning of the ’80s, mid-’80s, I met this amazing guy, who’s this amazing dancer, and me and all my girlfriends just adored him because when you dance with him it was like, it was like, I dont’ know, Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers, something so special, right? His name is Brad (Jeffries), he’s here tonight. Brad, where are you? At least, throw up your hand. (Sees Brad in the audience) Here’s right there!
“So anyway, Brad is dancing me in this next video, which, if you are a fan of ours, you’ve seen this video. But we chose parts of it for our backstage, for our video wall. And so you’ll see him and it’s my finest moment of ballet, my most fabulous moment of ballet. Anway, so it’s Brad and I dancing and you’ll see him, and this is “If Anyone Falls in Love.’”
4. Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around
5. Fall from Grace
6. For What It’s Worth (Buffalo Springfield cover)
7. Gypsy
“This next song is from the ’70s. It’s from Fleetwood Mac, and I wrote it about a specific time, I think, at the end of the ’70s when I was like, really like, I got so famous so fast that it was like weird, and it was weird-ing me out a little bit to go from being a cleaning lady to a very famous person like overnight. So whenever that would happen, I would take my bed, my mattress off of my bed frame and put it on the floor like it used to be, and I put a bunch of coverlets on it and flowers and stuff, you know, and then I would just sit down on this bed and I would go like, ‘I am still Stevie.’ And I have to tell you after the last couple of weeks of my life that I’m still sort of like sitting on my bed on the floor. I’m glad to say that I definitely am still Stevie. So uh, then there was a song called ‘Gypsy.’”
“So this next song was on… I’m not sure what album it was on. It was on one of the first three albums (Rock a Little), and it was never done onstage because when you do an album, especially in those days, you just get like 20 songs on your record to go down to like 12 songs or 11 songs. So there’s always gonna be a couple songs you really love that are just simply gonna have to go because you cannot…the record company will not have it. So this was one of those songs. And we decided where everything is right now that this is the perfect time to sing it for you now, so here it is. You know, if you remember it, great. If you don’t (inaudible) a song for you.”
Dolly Patron and Stevie Nicks answer the important question: ‘What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done for You?’
Dolly Parton will be releasing her highly-anticipated album Rockstar on Friday, November 17, according Dolly’s official press release. The new album, full of pairings with elite rock stars, will contain Dolly’s collaboration with Stevie Nicks and guitarist Waddy Wachtel, “What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You.” Interestingly, the song’s title was first reported to be “What Has Rock an Roll Ever Done For Me” back in January. But fans have always known the demo (see below) as “What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done for You.” Whatever the title actually is, we’re so here for it!
Bella Donna Live 1981 features all of the broadcast tracks from Stevie’s concert at the Fox Wilshire Theatre in Los Angeles on December 13, 1981, the last night of the “White Winged Dove Tour.” Though 13 of 14 tracks originally appeared on NBC’s The Source for a special 1983 radio broadcast, “After the Glitter Fades,” excluded from the broadcast, makes its commercial vinyl debut on Bella Donna Live 1981. The concert was first reissued back in 2016 for the deluxe edition of Bella Donna. Two other songs that Stevie performed that night, “Think About It” and “Blue Lamp,” remain elusive.
